2011 Wrap Up

Oh 2011.  Just where did you go?  It was a busy, fun, and crazy year!

We had a great Christmas.  I was wondering about Meredith and the Santa factor this year.  Last year she was doubtful, and I thought this year with school- forget it.  However, with all of her classmates still believing in Santa there was almost a renewed interest this year.  I'm ready to bust it out, but I'll be good and keep quiet for another year at least.  If you don't remember my angst about Santa you can read about it in one of my old posts.

Frank and I both work at the same place and our work is closed from Christmas Eve until the day after New Years Day.  It's amazing, and I'm thankful.  It hasn't always been that way, and I've worked my fair share of Christmas Eve day, but man, is it relaxing.

We started off our holidays with Frank taking Meredith to a girl scout event for the guys and girls- ice skating.  It was Meredith's first time ice skating, and Frank said she did great.  By the end she wasn't hanging onto the side and was skating independently, and only fell 2 times!

Christmas Eve we spent with my family- relaxing and opening gifts.  The girls enjoyed a surprise in the basement- my dad set up his train set.  They also did a pageant for us again this year.

Christmas Eve night we went to bed at our house.  Meredith put out the milk and cookies.  I always like to read The Night Before Christmas and The Animals Christmas Eve with her.  This year for whatever reason she resisted, and insisted on her Take Me Home Country Roads book!

Christmas morning she woke up to a Barbie Dream house in all of its pink glory.  She was thrilled.  We opened gifts.  She was most excited to give Frank a gift that she picked out herself- a miniature version of the leg lamp from The Christmas Story movie.  My parents and sister came over to watch her open gifts and spend the day.  It was so warm this year that my mom and I ventured outside for a walk in the afternoon.  We basically lazed around all day.

The day after Christmas we headed to Wheeling to celebrate with Frank's family.  Meredith had so much fun with her cousins!  We stayed there for a few days and she got to sleep over with her cousins too.

We headed back to Columbus a little sooner than initially planned because Frank had surgery scheduled.  He had been having some pain and digestive type issues which was keeping him up at night, and he ended up with gall stones.  So he had his gall bladder out on Dec. 30.  Needless to say New Years was quiet for us!  His surgery went well and his recovery was super smooth.  He said he is feeling better already!

Now we are on to 2012.  It's funny because on New Year's Eve Meredith and I caught some of the "Best of New Years Rocking Eve" show that was on TV.  They mentioned the years certain bands performed.  When they said 1994 she said "19?  Really, 19?  That's weird".  Ah, my babe of the 20's- Happy 20-12!
