Our fun and festival fall kept rolling, and now we are in
the midst of holiday fun! This year we
hosted the Frank’s family at our house for Thanksgiving dinner. When we really thought about it, Frank and I
have never been home for Thanksgiving.
We’ve either traveled to his families, my families, or our families
traveled together somewhere. It really
helps to get a jump start on all of the Christmas stuff being home that
weekend.
This is the first time I cooked a turkey, so I did a trial
run with my sister beforehand. I had it
all planned out, timed out and ready to roll.
And then old Tom Turkey got done about an hour and a half early! I had a thermometer, so I knew it was officially
done and didn’t just leave it roasting, therefore equaling super dry
turkey. A combination of not stuffing
the bird, and a convection oven, really roasted that birdie fast. Luckily tenting the turkey and sitting it on
the stove kept it plenty warm. The
logistical nightmare that is Thanksgiving managed to all come together in the
end.
Meredith had 5 cousins to play with for the weekend and they
had great fun. We celebrated her
birthday again with the family. The
girls did some black Friday shopping- even braving Target for the 9pm opening
on Thanksgiving Day. The boys watched
football. It was warm enough the kids
could go outside and play a bit too. We
occupied every sleeping spot in the house and had a great time.
