M*I*C*K*E*Y M*O*U*S*E

We’re back from our spring break and as you can see, yes, we went to Disneyworld! Now, I would have never decided to take a 2 year old to Disney, but Frank had a conference in Orlando, so we couldn’t resist the free room and his free airfare and food. There really were plenty of things for Meredith to do, ride and see and overall we had a great time.

We spent 4 days just the 3 of us in the resorts, which I would not choose to stay any place besides the resort hotels if I were planning a Disney vacation. We spent Easter weekend at my parents’ house and then all returned to Orlando.

Unfortunately on day 4 of our trip Frank became sick. Day 5 we were at my parents and Meredith and I became sick: fever, congestion, and cough. Unfortunately that made for a cranky toddler since she was sick, off schedule from travel, over stimulated from Disney and not in her own home. Maybe 10 days was too long of a vacation overall, but Meredith was a trooper. I felt bad when at my parents’ house she said, “Mommy, where’d Meredith’s house go?”

Given all that, I will give you Meredith’s Top 5 Favorite Disney attractions: (in no particular order)

It’s A Small World—we rode this 3 times. She loved it! The wait is typically not as long, so we could hop on it pretty quickly. The singing and moving dolls, the bright colors, plus riding in the boat were all perfect for her.

Turtle Talk With Crush—This is on the first things we did, so it became the standard to measure all other shows by. We would tell Meredith where we were heading next and she would say “Kind of like Crush?” In case you don’t know, Crush is the turtle from Finding Nemo who is a “surfer dude”. He’s a great character. The show is animated but interactive, so cartoon Crush is actually taking questions from the audience. Meredith was a little scared at first, but she is still talking about Crush 2 weeks later. Oh, and saying “Dude”, “Noggin”, “Totally Sweet” and “Stay in Schools!”

Character Breakfast with Mary Poppins—Yes. We met Mary Poppins. Meredith was ecstatic to see her. She signed a paper for her and kissed it and Meredith was in awe that there was lipstick on the paper. We knew that we wanted to ensure that Meredith would see Mary Poppins so the character breakfast, although pricey, was nice because the characters stop by each table and come to you so you don’t have to stand in line.

Playhouse Disney Live Show—This was perfectly geared toward the 2-3 age range and is a must see for the toddler/preschool group. All the favorites from the Disney channel were there- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, My Friends Tigger and Pooh and Little Einstein’s. You sit on the floor and the kids are encouraged to sing along, clap, dance, and jump. There are bubbles that float down from the ceiling and confetti. Meredith loved every minute of it.

The boat, the train, the monorail and the bus. Half the fun is getting there, right?

Now we're back, unpacked, laundry done and back in the routine. And planning our next Disney vacation!
