What a crazy summer it has been. I don't know about you, but we were hit by the Derecho- the giant windstorm, and lost power for 3 days, back on for a day, then off for a day. My poor parents went 9 days with no power. Of course it was miserably hot too, with temperatures in the high high 90's, and up to 100 and 101. Miserable.
Before all of the crazy power outages and downed tree limbs, we ventured with Frank's side of the family and my parents to little old Durbin, WV for a steam engine train ride. It was really fun! It was a 2 hour ride along the Greenbrier River and we had a gorgeous day for it. Sunny, but not too hot. It really was fun for the whole family.
Otherwise our summer has been very busy. I overbooked us, again. I should have learned my lesson last year. Maybe next year? In addition to getting adjusted to a new day camp for Meredith, and a slightly new schedule for me at work, we've been off to tennis lessons, swimming lessons, Vacation Bible School. Meredith has really hit a stride with swimming and wants to spend every possible moment at our neighborhood pool. Luckily we has a small reprieve last week before 2 more weeks of swim lessons, and then vacation, then we are clear until the back to school stuff begins. Oh, summer, where are you going so fast?
