What is it about spring?
First, all of the activities from the year are wrapping up- dance is getting closer to recital, field trips for school, picnics, parties... Then, we awaken from our winter naps and decide- yes, let's put up dry wall and finish the garage, and yes, let's do a garden this year since the neighbor offered to till it for us. Oh, and softball, that sounds like fun! Meredith will play, Frank will coach. Meredith loves it, Frank is an awesome coach, but it's 3 days out of the week.
What's the summer plans- vacation, summer camp, when is VBS, is the pool open yet? bike is too small, scooter is to small, last year's summer clothes are too small, my running shoes have gone too many miles. Do we need new windows? Is anyone delivering mulch this year? You want to do art classes? Did anyone feed the fish? Did I empty the liter pan? Where's the cat?
Yeah, it's a lot. And it's crazy, and still there's some still in the spinning that makes it worth it. We'll get through May, just like we got through and will get through August/September. Such is the life of having a child in school. I'm being intentional in NOT over scheduling this year. Someone hold me to it. Softball this summer. That's it. Plenty of free time and pool time. Weekend visitors and trips. Full vacation in the Fall. Enjoying each other, enjoying the warmth. Enjoying my 7 year old. Enjoying our new fur ball.
Enjoying moments like this I shared on Facebook- my mind taking a picture of Meredith riding into the sunset on her too small Barbie bike, with flower petal wheels, a plastic pink bike on the handlebars for Barbie to ride on, a bell, streamers from the handles, and a ride along for a baby doll on the back. Wearing her rainbow butterfly shirt. Glittery, peaceful. Both the best of Meredith.
