Go Buckeyes!

Some of you will love this post and some of you will loathe it. That dividing line can pretty much be drawn between the family lines. My family and friends will get a kick out of this and Frank's family and friends, not so much.

Meredith has spontaneously started saying "Go Buckeyes!". It started this past Saturday when we met my sister at the farmer's market. Meredith saw an OSU car flag on a passing car, looked up at us and said "Go Buckeyes!". I was pretty surprised that she said it since it is not something I have taught her. If any of you know Frank at all, you know darn well that he didn't teach it to her and that there are no Ohio State flags in our house.

Frank has what I call an unnaturally healthy hatred for everything Ohio State. I have never seen someone put so much time and energy into something they dislike so much. Now, I have my own take on sports in general and some of the rules. Frank being a sports enthusiast loves these discussions. I won't get into all of them here, but, for example, tonight Frank is watching the highlights replay of the WVU vs. Marshall game and I am thinking this highlights thing is perfect! Skip to the good stuff! Who needs to watch the kick off if nothing exciting happens? Saves everyone some time. Don't get me started on the unfairness of 1st and 3rd base coaches in baseball and the rights of golf caddies. I enjoy sports on the whole, but I don't put my energy on cheering against teams, but cheering for my teams. Insert glass half empty half full analogy here.

Meredith has been pretty funny with the Go Buckeyes! thing to. For example, our dinner conversation the other night:

Meredith: "Go Buckeyes!"
Me: "Meredith, does Daddy like the Buckeyes?"
Meredith: "No."
Me: "Do you like the Buckeyes?"
Meredith: "Yes"
Me: Does Mommy like the Buckeyes?"
Meredith: "Yes"

I will admit that Meredith has attempted to say "Go Mountaineers!" for Frank a few times and will also admit that Buckeyes is easier for our almost 2 year old to say. I would also like to put on the record that occasionally when asked to say "Go Mountaineers!" Meredith will reply with a "Boo Daddy! Go Buckeyes!"

Being born in Ohio and going to day care/school in Ohio this was pretty unavoidable, but overall, what can I say. The girl is smart.

OMG - I am totally going to start brainwashing -- I mean -- teaching Lanie to say that. How fun! =)
