The M’s and the P’s

We have had a busy week last week and Labor Day weekend with the grandparents! My parents (Mana and Poppi) came in for a visit from Florida. It was fun having them here all week. On Monday we went to the zoo with my sister-in-law Erin and nieces Reagan and Katherine. Meredith and Reagan had fun running around everywhere and seeing the animals.

And an especially good time running through the water misters!

On Tuesday we spent the evening at the pool. It was a nice evening and our last pool trip of the summer, which makes me sad that summer is coming to an end. I’m going to miss the pool! Meredith showed Mana and Poppi how she went down the slide and Reagan showed how she can now swim underwater! The rest of the week we squeezed in visits with my parents around work and everyone’s schedule.

This weekend we went to Wheeling, WV to visit with Frank’s parents (Memaw and Pap) and to attend a wedding reception for friends Jerry and Cheryl. Memaw watched Meredith for us and luckily Meredith was very well behaved. (Look at us getting out 2 weekends in a row!) She had an early nap that day in the car, so she was zonked by bedtime.

Jerry and Cheryl’s reception was really nice and we are so happy for the both of them! They were married on 7-7-07 in Vegas so this was the fun big party! We got to catch up with a lot of Frank’s friends that we haven’t seen in a while.

The number 1 best thing about weddings in Wheeling is the cookie table. It is awesome and not really anything that I have seen too much before, and not in Columbus. I am pretty sure it is an Italian traditional, and Wheeling has some Italian roots so I think it caught on and became a regional wedding tradition. Basically the parents, aunts, neighbors, friends etc. all make cookies. Some regulars are pizelles, peanut butter blossoms, mini cream horns (my favorite), chocolate chip, fudge and then the list goes on from there. The cookies are typically out the whole reception and people dive in right away- almost like an appetizer! We had a cookie table when we were married here in Columbus, and people still talk about it. I guess it reminds you that being married is like eating dessert first!

We also went to the Good Zoo at Oglebay Park and saw the animals. Meredith had fun running around and was thrilled that her cousin Amber came along too! We forgot to bring our backpack, so we borrowed a rolling backpack from Frank’s parents and Meredith loved pulling it around the zoo!

Cookie tables are HUGE in NE Ohio, too. Definitely an Italian thing. Now I want cookies. Thanks a lot!

Sounds like you had a great couple of weekends!
