Blog, Blog, Where Art Thou Blog

A few of you have asked about updating the blog, so since it’s been 6 months I figured it was time! I wasn’t kidding when I said that it may be a while between updates.

The past 6 months have been a whirlwind! Graduate school has been going great! I have a great cohort of classmates who are as nerdy as I am. I have no complaints about the program, have really been enjoying myself, and my skills and personality seem to fit right in to the marketing and communication realm. The instructors have been fun, helpful, and knowledgeable. I’m 1 ½ terms in with 2 ½ terms left! I have probably solicited all of you to watch our video we had to make for our last class, which stars Frank, Meredith and myself. If you haven't seen it, here you go!

At the beginning of February we put our house on the market. We loved our first house, but we were ready to make a change, move a little closer to work, get a few more features in a home, and most importantly get in a neighborhood where the homes are taken care of and appreciating in value. The neighborhood we were in seems to be cursed with bank owned and foreclosed homes, possibly because it is a newer development. With the home buyers tax credit we figured now would be the time. Selling your home and moving is definitely stressful, but in retrospect we were in contract by the end of April, so that 3 month stint with all of the cleaning and ups and downs wasn’t as long as it seemed.

We are now in our new house and settling in. So far we love it! It’s only been 3 weeks now but I have no complaints. Meredith is ruling the house- not like she didn’t before- but her new bedroom is twice as big as the old one, and after last weekend is now painted pink, the fourth bedroom is now a toy room, plus, the hall bath is now hers. We have a little more painting, hanging, and arranging to do, but really nothing major.

In the past few months somewhere Meredith lost her first tooth! I came home from my class one evening and Frank said that her tooth was loose. She is only 4, so it seemed pretty early. I checked it out in the morning and had to call the dentist to ensure that this was a loose tooth and it wasn’t some accident that we didn’t know about (not that they would probably do anything anyway, but again, she’s only 4!). The dentist confirmed that 4-7 is when kids start getting loose teeth, and if they got baby teeth early they probably lose them earlier too.

Meredith wasn’t so excited about her wobbly tooth. She was frightened of the tooth fairy and the first person in her class at day care to have a loose tooth. I actually ended up pulling it after it was hanging on by a thread and she did great. The tooth did not end up under her pillow, but the tooth fairy still managed to get her $1.

Meredith played soccer again this spring and it getting ready to start tennis. She is mostly excited about wearing a little tennis skirt I found for her. It’s all about the outfits!

Frank is back to his summer softball schedule playing two nights per week. He traveled to New Orleans for work and took his annual boys trip to Charlotte, NC for NASCAR. I never know much about the trip and I think it is best that way. I know it involved camping, bacon, racing, beer, and dirty boys. That's all I need to know!

I’ll try and be a little better about updating more often. Now that I have my work/school/life balance falling more in line I should be able to get to it more often and be able to share more details.
