Bread of Life

This past Sunday Meredith reached a milestone in her faith journey. At our church, once children start asking about taking communion they meet with the Pastor and then are allowed to start taking it. I like that children take it when they feel ready. About a month ago Meredith started asking about taking the bread and wine. I listened, told her that we would have to talk to our Pastor, explained about communion, and basically waited. I wanted to see if she would bring it up again either middle of the week or the following Sunday.

Well, she did, we scheduled our meeting, and this past Sunday she took communion for the first time! She was so cute, with her little cup of “wine” (she chose the white grape juice option), and when we got back to the pew she said, “It’s stuck in my teeth”, and made a very cute face. She also said the bread was like “that crazy shrimp place”, which was a Greek restaurant we went to (with a sizzling shrimp appetizer) that had pita bread, very similar to our bread at church.

Watching the faith of a child has to be one of my favorite things about being a parent.
