Dear Meredith,
Happy 2nd Birthday!
I know we will say this every year, but it is hard to believe that you are two! Thinking back one year ago you had just given up the pacifier, weren’t quite walking yet but were well on your way (you took off around Thanksgiving), were still taking a bottle and just completing the transition to table food, and saying some one word syllables such as ma ma, da da, apple.
Now look at you! You are really transitioning into a little girl who not only walks but runs, hops, skips, gallops, and climbs. We love it when you run and then look at us and say “Meredith running!” You still amaze yourself! You are quite the food connoisseur and are very good about trying things and eating your vegetables. You are way past the bottle and now getting more adept at the big girl cup. And you can talk! You give us a running commentary on everything that just happened, even seconds after it happens.
Physically you are quite healthy and we thank God for such a beautiful, healthy girl. Your 2 year check-up at the doctor had you at 31 lbs. and 3 feet tall! You are still in the 95th percentile for height and 90th percentile for weight. Daddy still has you pegged as a basketball player, although you seem to prefer soccer. You have gorgeous hair and I would say the number one comment over the past year about you was “Look at that hair! What gorgeous curls!” Your brown hair falls into ringlets, especially in the humid weather. When we were in Florida recently it was so curly! I hope that you appreciate the curls. The way your hair curls you have the option of making it straight as well—the envy of many girls! Your eyes remain a mystery color. Last year I would say smoky blue, this year I would say green is a better way to describe them.
You really are the most fun that we have ever had. We love playing with you and taking you to the park and swing, which we spent hours upon hours doing this year. You're empathetic and take other children at day care who are hurt, upset or need help under your wing. You are silly and funny and have a great sense of humor already! You love to tease and to be teased as well, which honestly is a survival technique for both sides of the family! We couldn’t love you more and are overwhelmed at how much love we are capable of holding for you. We can’t wait to see all of the changes to come over the next year!
Hugs and Kisses,
Mommy and Daddy
